Kindergarten Newsletter
November 4th  – November 8th

Last. Week. Was. WILD! I sat down on Friday night and thought to myself- “how did we survive that!?” It was so much fun though! We had a FAB day with our senior friends on Friday as well!  We made this slime mixture and did ALL sorts of things with it! J I was able to do some checks on the kiddos. I’ll send those home soon. They are all growing! J I am so proud! This week we will introduce the concept of push and pull. We’ll also start talking about Thanksgiving and getting ready for our feast! J It’s always a day of so much fun.  We will keep moving right on along in our reading skills – letters/sounds, decoding, writing letters correctly, forming sentences, and beginning, middle, and end of words. These skills take time but will make reading so much easier. In math, we’ll work on our numbers 0-15. I teach teen numbers with the base ten concept. Let’s make ten and then see how many more. That is one reason why we spend so much time on understanding our numbers 0-10. We will also be supporting Operation Christmas Child and the Relay for Life Queens. I’ll send home a sheet that breaks down what we need. Do not feel obligated. Please see the back for field trip information! I bought lunch (turkey & ham sandwiches, apples, yogurt, chips, drinks, and cookies). I spent about $55 dollars so any bit of help will be appreciated!  There is also more than enough for adults too!

Secret Tips:
Don’t forget to be working with your toolkit! Especially those sight words!
Go ahead and start using those cubes in your toolkit and starting making words! We are making words at school and they are LOVING it! This will be something we do ALL year!
WORD GAMES!!!
Guess my word- give your child clues to a word you are thinking of. It rhymes with  . . . It starts with . . . It would be used to describe . . .
Beach ball words- write words on a beach ball. Toss it to your child. Have them read the word under their right thumb and toss it back.
Magnetic letters- make words on your mini-fridge in your toolkit.
Sock game- put word cards on the floor. Have your child stand in their socks. Call out the word and see how quickly they can step on it!
