Kindergarten Newsletter
November 11th- November 15th 

We are continuing to rock and roll through kindergarten! We are winding our way through November way too fast. It's already mid-month! We will keep right along with our sight words, manipulating beginning, middle, and ending sounds, and starting something called phoneme segmentation. That is a fancy word for making sure we hear every sound in a word. This skill will start slowly but will speed up as we progress. The purpose for this skill is to lay the ground work for blending and decoding words on their own, especially reading fluency and writing. I'm so excited because we are going to start some actual reading this week. We've dipped our toes in the reading but we are going to make a dive. Another thing that I have decided that we'd do after Christmas is start our spelling tests. They are not traditional spelling tests so no worrying. I'll explain more about that later. We have already been working on our numbers 0-13 and now we are going to tackle some more! They are picking up very quickly on these because of our understanding of our numbers 0-10. We will celebrate National Pickle Day this week and ***fingers crossed*** make Forky with our senior friends! Bonnie (in Toy Story 4) made her in kindergarten so we are going to fully take advantage of that! :)

Sight Words: 

red, orange, yellow, the, a, green, blue, is, go, purple, pink, white, black, had, I, see, brown, he, and, gray, has, you, we, of, am, it, at, to, as, have, in, is 

Letters/Sounds/Writing A-Z, rhyming words, differentiate between a letter, word, sentences, small/tall/fall letters, onset and rime, decoding and blending, and beginning and ending sounds. 

Numbers: 0-15: how to write them, making numbers to 10 in different ways, more and less
