Kindergarten Newsletter
January 26th - January 30th

What a fun week last week! This is my favorite time of kindergarten because they start growing and progressing faster! It takes a little bit to get over the “hump” of having more responsibility and such but they are adjusting well. We had so much fun on the 100th day of school. It is always one of my favorite days. We will continue working with short a words and adding a few sight words. I am going to have to be out a couple of days this week due to my sweet baby boy being sick with the flu. He’s been in quarantine and is on the uphill stretch. That mess is awful. Jolie hasn’t been around him and isn’t showing any signs. I’ve cleaned with so much Lysol that I think it’s a part of my DNA now! Haha! Anyway, we have Mrs. Jenny. The kids love her and she loves them so the days should be awesome. We will have our open house for new students this week. If you know any families that would be interested bring them or send them! We want our school to grow and we also want more children to be able to benefit from all the good we can offer! J Also, if you haven’t gotten in your time capsule box and materials try to have them in by Friday so we can go ahead an finish those. It is going to be an amazing keepsake for our babies.

Secret Tips:
Everyone did so great with sounding and blending this past week. Use the blocks and the magnetic fridge to practice building spelling words. Remember! It’s not   memorization! Get them to hear those sounds. That will be the best benefit that  you can give to them as beginning spellers and readers.

With the readers, take them slow! The BEST thing to do is do a picture walk first. All that means is to use the pictures to figure out what is happening without reading any words yet. Then, go through and see if you can point out any sight words. Lastly, practice reading. It’s always a good idea to read it multiple times to build that fluency!

Kindergarten Newsletter
January 20th - January 24th

What an AMAZING week we had last week. I can say that I was absolutely exhausted by Friday night. We worked so hard and had so much fun. Our field trip and my birthday was AMAZING. They talked about Auburn the rest of the week. I love that field trip because the experiences are so unique. We also rocked our first spelling test and I couldn’t be prouder! We will continue right along with our sight words, decoding and blending, and READING! We will also work on our numbers to 30 and even begin some addition. Most of the kiddos have picked up on the addition but we are going to actual teach it soon! We will also be preparing for our 100th day of school! This is always a fun marker for us! Don’t forget to be working on your 100th day t-shirt with 100 things on it OR your 100 year old person outfit! I’ve got mine almost ready! I am also going to be sending home a reader for your kiddo to practice reading. Just send it back and we’ll send a new one home the next day! J They are GROWING UP!
