It's HOMECOMING Week!!!

It's GREAT to be a LAKESIDE CHIEF!!!

Kindergarten Newsletter
September 23rd - September 27th

Poof! September is just about GONE! It amazes me how fast some months fly by! We have homecoming this week! It’s going to be a fun week! J We are going to make some lions, tin men, and scarecrows for our field sign. It’s going to be soooo cute! It’ll be hanging out at the football field on Friday. Check it out when you come. I have put a “run down” on the back to make it simple! We will also celebrate the first days of fall and Johnny Appleseed this week.  We will still have “school” this week even though we have lots of fun planned. I plan on keeping right on moving through our alphabet, working with some rhyming, working with handwriting, and diving deeper into our numbers to 10. We will work with things like before and after, which is greater and less, etc. I am going to be sending home some sign and return papers. These are just some “checks” that I have done to ensure that we are progressing. Please sign them and return them asap! There is nothing to worry about. I promise you! If I was concerned I would have already called you!!!  Remember, in kindergarten we do not record grades so if you see a low percentage look at it like this : it’s a percentage that we are trying to grow. It’s NOT a grade. It’s NOT a reflection on how “smart” my kid is. It IS a point that we use to ensure I’m teaching the right things and to ensure that your baby is GROWING! Take note of some areas that need some growth and focus on those things when working on “homework” in the afternoons. J

Don’t forget to be collecting box tops! Box tops=free money for LSC!!
PLEASE don’t forget drinks in your kiddos lunchboxes to have a lunch time.
If you have any gently loved uniforms that you’d like to get rid of please consider donating to the school. We have a $5 spot where anyone can come and purchase uniforms!
Idea: Send a thermos of water for the playground. It helps to have a bottle to bring out to the playground during these HOT days!
Secret Tips:
Your toolkit has a “fridge” and a container with magnetic letters. Please feel free to use those to work on letters and sounds. This is another neat way to practice.  You can just lay the letters out on the table and give your kiddos a letter sound. Have them find the letter that it matches with and have them place it on the fridge.
Use the vowel and consonant cubes to work with letter id as well. If you kiddos has the letter id down pat then move on to sounds. We want these sounds to be as fluid at possible because when they start reading we do not want them spending “brain power” trying to remember the sound.
